Friends of the Phantom is the only US Phantom fanclub. Founded by Ed Rhoades, Pete Klaus and Bob Lian, it was conceived by these three fans when they met with Lee Falk at the Great Eastern Convention in 1993. The name of the club was selected from a plaque presented to Lee Falk before the club existed.
For now, we are a very small but far flung group of enthusiasts and collectors. The Friends of the Phantom publication was published in paper form for ten years and featured exclusive information and interviews with many Phantom luminaries like Lee Falk, Billy Zane, and Sy Barry. I am proud of the fact that the bulk of published information on artists behind the scenes on the Phantom has come from my research which has been printed in our newsletters.
I have been visited quite often by FOTP members who came to talk about the Phantom and see my "Skull Cave" which looks a lot like a Phantom museum. We have an annual dinner at Sardi's in Manhattan each spring and when geographically possible, some members have get-togethers to trade information and Phantom collectibles. The members are a great bunch and help each other enormously.
Although for now, our articles are published only online, our group still consists of a network of friends, fans, and collectors and we always are delighted to make new acquaintances from the world of Phantom friends.
I welcome email and if you're living in the a US calling zone and want to discuss our favorite hero, include your phone number.
